Plastic Surgery and how it works
Plastic surgery is a surgical specialty involving the restoration, reconstruction, or alteration of the human body.
What is silicone?
The
silicone implant is a device created from a man-made silicone polymer composed
of chains of carbon, silicon and oxygen. With current technology, these do not
have an "expiration date to be withdrawn," but rather need to be
followed up with the surgeon to monitor their aspects over the years.
There are several brands in the market, with different
patterns of size, texture and composition. The doctor will choose the brand
that has the greatest confidence and, preferably, that complies with safety
standards and quality standards nationally and internationally.
Who can undergo this
surgery?
Surgery is an individualized procedure. Do not take into
account cases of other known patients, implant volumes, physical type, etc.
Each patient is unique and will have his surgical indication exclusively, and
the doctor must obey his own standards of beauty and not a fad or aesthetic
standard imposed by society.
Factors such as allergies, some diseases or habits may
contraindicate the procedure.
Surgical indication
Preoperative consultations are extremely important. In
them, the surgeon will make a thorough medical history and physical examination
in addition to requesting pertinent additional examinations. All this with the
purpose of proposing to each patient a surgery with lower risks and that, at
the end, presents satisfactory results.
Why do people prefer plastic
surgery in the winter?
It is unanimous among plastic surgeons: the best time of
the year to undergo such intervention is winter. The main reason of them, besides avoiding the
discomfort, is to reduce the common swelling after the plastic.
This period is the most chosen because it provides greater
comfort during recovery, especially when the intervention requires the use of
straps or bandages. The use of wide clothing allows the use of compression
straps with more comfort and less fluid retention. Another favorable factor is
the milder sun, which helps in healing and decreases the chances of skin
blemishes.
Different kind of plastic surgery:
Liposuction:
-Which consists of removing the fat from some areas (abdomen, back, flanks,
thighs and thighs), placing on others (buttocks, natural retractions, cellulite
depressions) . The best indication of liposuction is the patient with localized
fat that is within their normal range or slightly above their weight.
Overweight people can also perform the procedure, but liposuction is not
indicated for the treatment of obesity.
Silicone
prostheses
-Breast reduction is indicated to relieve physical and aesthetic
discomfort. Breasts reduction is indicated when the patient wants and feels
that the breasts are disproportionate to the body and chest, and passes the
notion that she is overweight, whereas, in fact, it is because the breast is
too large and looks larger than the thorax,. The incisions are made in the less
visible places and the operative technique depends on the shape and type of the
breasts, such as the inverted T, Lateral and Periareolar, the most common. In
cases in which the patient presents flaccidity and breasts with stretch marks,
the silicone implant can be used along with the removal of breast tissue in
order to correct the breast reduction
Abdominoplasty
- In general it is indicated for those patients who lost great weight or who went
through previous pregnancies episodes after which there was appearance of
excess skin (sagging)," The procedure in which
excess fat and skin are removed, in most cases, restores weakened or separated
muscles, creating a softer and toned abdominal profile. After removal of the
excess, the remaining skin is detached and stretched to the scar, which can be
hidden by the bikini.
Rhinoplasty
-Also known as nose surgery, it is much sought after in winter because there is
a fear that the face or nose will become very swollen in the summer because of
the heat. Changes such as prominence in the back of the nose, changes in the
nasal tip, decrease or increase in size, and corrections, when necessary, to improve
breathing can lead to a more beautiful appearance with rhinoplasty. Through
photographic study it is possible for the patient to verify before the surgery
how the nose will look without creating false expectations.
Buttock Graft
In this procedure, fat is removed from the patient with
liposuction. This fat is processed in a way that preserves stem cells and
growth factor cells and is reinjected into the intimacy of the gluteal muscle.
When selecting these cells for use in the gluteal graft. Fat is removed from
the flanks, hips or thighs using liposuction techniques, creating optimal
proportions in the lower body, and optimizing the appearance of the gluteal
region.
Dermosustentation
Wire
Indicated for those who have mild to moderate flaccidity in
the face region. The application of threads with small polypropylene claws on
the facial fat, which act as anchors, gives a lifting effect on the skin -
lifting.
Gynecomastia
Gynecomastia is the name given to the growth of breasts in
men due to pathologies, usually associated with hormonal imbalances. Mild
gynecomastia is considered a normal trait in boys in early adolescence.
Lifting
Although clinical measures achieve good results in
aesthetic treatments of the face, such as botox and peelings, sagging skin and
muscles often do not have a fully satisfactory result as use of these clinical
measures. Therefore, facial lift surgery, which is the surgical lifting of the
face, continues to be widely used. The facelift can be performed on the entire
face, used to correct sagging of both the face and neck, or just on the
forehead, to treat wrinkles of the forehead and raise the eyebrow.
Mammoplasty
Mammoplasty aims to reshape the breast, divided into
mammoplasty reductive for people who have a growth above normal or even just to
give a more graceful form to the breasts, breast augmentation, with the
placement of silicone prostheses and corrective mammoplasty, for those cases of
congenital imperfections or even for those who underwent a mastectomy due to
breast cancer.
Otoplasty
It is an aesthetic surgery performed to change the
appearance of the patient's ears.
Filling chin, lips
Facial fill helps skin rejuvenation and is a technique made
up of flexible organic or inorganic substances that can be injected into the
skin to improve appearance by eliminating creases and wrinkles, enlarging the
lips, chin, correcting scars, lifting deep grooves and repairing almost all
kinds of facial imperfections besides stimulating the production of collagen.
Buttock prosthesis
Augmentation Gluteoplasty is a plastic surgery that
involves the introduction of silicone gel prostheses into the gluteus maximus.
Calf Prosthesis
In calf surgery the prosthesis used is the textured one,
filled with silicone gel. They have been improved over time, and are currently
small and very resilient. There is practically no risk of rupture and can last
a lifetime. They do not present any risk of rejection.
Does Health Insurance Cover
Plastic Surgery Or Not?
In what situations is it possible
to benefit from the health plan?
If this is in your best interest, pay close
attention to see if you fit into any of these cases.
Health plans are not required to cover cosmetic plastic
surgeries
That's the truth, but if you pay attention, there's a catch
in that sentence. In fact, more than one. The first is that they are not
required - but they are not forbidden either. And since not all health plans
are the same, if the operator wants to cover the procedure, it is enough to
include the coverage for plastic surgery, serving as a differential against the
competition.
In this case, the tip is to know the health plan well
before hiring. Talk to the specialist vendor, explain to him your wants and
needs - and, most importantly, read all the clauses of the contract so that you
will not have unpleasant surprises later. If the plan promises to cover plastic
surgery, be sure that this promise will be clear in the contract and also if
plastic surgery is not related only to the need in case of health.
One is when plastic surgery is for the removal of excess
skin for patients who have had stomach reduction surgery. As this excess
compromises his health and the day to day of the beneficiary, he is entitled to
plastic surgery without any burden.
Another plastic surgery included in the mandatory coverage
is breast reconstruction for women who underwent masectomy. The law provides
coverage for beneficiaries diagnosed with breast cancer, traumatic lesions and
tumors in general - including coverage of mastoplasty in the opposite breast
after contralateral reconstruction in cases of traumatic lesions and tumors for
recipients with a diagnosis established on a breast, even though the other is
still healthy.
Are there other cases where the health insurance plan can
cover plastic surgery?
Yes, it is possible. Blepharoplasty itself, which is now
the third most sought after plastic surgery in the country, may have a clinical
indication, for example. This occurs when the eyelid is so sagged that it
seriously interferes with the vision, causing risks to the recipient. However,
a medical appointment is required and a process is filed with the operator
asking for the procedure to be performed, which should be analyzed by the
health plan.
If the operator disagrees with the doctor's appointment, a
third doctor chosen by mutual agreement of two other professionals should be
consulted for the final decision, and the remuneration of this professional is
borne by the operator, in accordance with RN 319/2013 of ANS. But it is good
for the consumer to be prepared for the (strong) possibility of having to go to
court to request the surgery.
The remainder,
such as hospital expenses and medical staff, are not covered by the plans.
So the recommendation is always to talk candidly and sincerely
with the health plan vendor and carefully read all the clauses of the contract
before you sign it.
Consult the operators that work in your region and
carefully analyze what each health plan has to offer.

vendors.
But do not let the hour of need, because you never know when it will
arise.
